Those who stay on the rails past ten hours are far more forgiving than those who bail within two — the playtime buckets lay it bare. Sampled post-launch reviews land at 63% positive out of 51, below the 73% lifetime average, as visuals collect nothing but praise (9 positive mentions out of 9) while the interface draws only criticism (4 negative mentions out of 4). Performance is the most-discussed aspect, with 10 mentions, and mostly passes, though bugs and micro-stutter peek through the keywords.

« After launching the game with the default settings on a 4K monitor, all open windows of other running applications changed their size and position. Are you serious? It's 2026, and game developers still can't handle this problem? »

« Same exact games as the previous ones. Just did the new Florida DLC and experienced yet another speed limit change without warning. Nothing has changed but the UI. »

« Adding DLSS/FSR but making frame generation only for FSR is really smart. Why can't I change the DLSS profile in the Nvidia app and at least turn on smooth motion there so it works properly? Thanks for at least adding cloud saves in Steam. »

Strengths

  • Graphics are the uncontested highlight: 9 positive mentions out of 9, and 'graphismes' is the most frequent keyword with 4 occurrences.
  • Performance generally holds: 6 positive versus 3 negative mentions out of 10, and 'fluide' (smooth) appears three times among the keywords.
  • Satisfaction climbs with playtime: 79% positive among the 14 reviews in the 10–25h bracket, up from 68% (2–10h, 19 reviews) and 41% (under 2h, 17 reviews).
  • Sound design is unanimously appreciated: 3 positive mentions out of 3.
  • Content earns mild approval: 3 positive versus 1 negative out of 5 mentions, with 'varié' (varied) and 'immersion' appearing among keywords.

Weaknesses

  • The interface is the sorest point: 4 negative mentions out of 4, and 'interface' is the second most frequent keyword with 3 occurrences.
  • Bugs taint the ride: 2 negative mentions out of 3, with 'bugs' twice and 'bloqué' (stuck) once among the keywords.
  • Post-launch sentiment runs cooler than the lifetime record: 63% positive out of 51 sampled reviews versus 73% overall, and 'recyclage' (recycling) appears once, hinting at rehash concerns.
  • First impressions hurt: only 41% of the 17 sub-two-hour reviews are positive — the weakest of any playtime bracket.

Who is it for?

Dedicated train simmers who value visual fidelity and can tolerate a clunky interface will find the most to love, provided they invest more than two hours. Quick judges and players allergic to menu friction should wait or pass.

Is Train Sim World® 7 worth it in 2026?

Player opinion is split: 73% of 253 Steam reviews are positive (player score 58/100). Most-praised strength: Graphics are the uncontested highlight. Current price: 49,99€.

Verdict

Train Sim World 7 pairs beautiful, smooth-running routes with a genuinely hostile interface, and the post-launch sample (63% positive out of 51) sits below the 73% lifetime score. The playtime curve is the strongest signal: satisfaction builds steadily with hours invested, so patient rail fans will likely dig out a rewarding sim beneath the rough edges — but most newcomers are better off waiting for a patch.
