« The game is a great deal of fun, lots of meaningful choices. Devs are absolutely the best. I had a bug issue and they took the time to resolve it immediately and it didn't break my saves. I'd support them for that alone! »

« Didn't like it :( Too many details that don't make the story rich, but long and boring. A very slow progress of the plot. I was forcing myself to finish the game, but gave up on 9 hours of gameplay »

Strengths

  • The narrative is the undisputed star, with 116 positive mentions out of 125—keywords like *immersion* (17) and *personnages* (15) proving players aren’t just reading a story; they’re *experiencing* it.
  • Graphics are a consensus win, with 69 positive mentions out of 69 for *art* (23 mentions), crafting a world so vivid it feels like stepping into a painting.
  • Player choices (14 mentions) and lore (11 mentions) add depth, making decisions feel consequential even in a shorter runtime—something 95% of players (10-25h) clearly appreciate.
  • Audio (24 positive mentions out of 28) enhances the emotional weight, with voice acting and score working in tandem to deepen immersion without drawing attention to themselves.
  • Over two-thirds of players (68 out of 190) have surpassed 25 hours, suggesting the game’s brevity isn’t a dealbreaker but rather a focused, binge-worthy experience.

Weaknesses

  • Content length receives mixed feedback (57 positive vs. 2 negative mentions out of 64), with some players noting the game’s brevity (8 mentions of *longueur*) feels abrupt after such an immersive narrative.
  • Bugs (3 mentions) and UI (3 mentions) are rarely criticized, but the single negative mention in each category hints at minor technical hiccups that could disrupt immersion for a few.
  • While romance and choices add richness, the narrative’s structure may disappoint those seeking deeper exploration or replayability—especially given the fantasy genre’s usual length expectations.

Who is it for?

This game is for players who prioritize *emotional storytelling* over endless gameplay, whether they’re drawn to fantasy romance, deep character arcs, or atmospheric worlds where every word matters. It’s perfect for those who enjoy narratives that linger long after the credits roll—without requiring a marathon session.

Is Sigh of the Abyss worth it in 2026?

Yes — player reception is very positive: 97% of 190 Steam reviews are positive (player score 94/100). Most-praised strength: The narrative is the undisputed star. Current price: 17,49€.

Verdict

*Sigh of the Abyss* doesn’t just tell a story—it *transports* you, with nearly universal praise for its writing, art, and immersion. The brevity might frustrate those craving extensive exploration, but for fans of tight, emotionally charged narratives, it’s a near-perfect experience. At 97% positive, it’s a rare gem for players who value depth over duration.
