« I don't know how Steam allows such a blatant ripoff of another game. This is as close as you can get to passing off someone else's work as your own. It's a jankier version of Manor Lords brought to you by Chіna. 0/10 »

« For now, I do not want to risk my CPU. Almost fired my Ryzen 7 8845 during the tutorial. Looked like manor lords. Quite nice game from the looks. Using a Razer cooling pad, still ran dangerously hot. »

« Visually it looks fine, like most other games. This game is very slow moving though. It takes forever for your people to collect and move resources. Hopefully this improves overtime. »

« Very polished, loads of content and loads of depth at its early access stage. If you get to that stage, you should use the siege and chariot. »

Strengths

  • Strategy depth shines: 27 positive mentions out of 42 highlight clean mechanics and rewarding long-term planning
  • Audio scores surprisingly well: 4 positive mentions out of 5, with players calling the soundtrack immersive
  • Mid-length play sessions dominate: 191 reviews show most players hit 2-10 hours with high satisfaction (80% positive)

Weaknesses

  • Performance drags the experience down: 10 negative mentions with zero positives, all citing stuttering and frame drops
  • User interface frustrates: 8 negative mentions out of 10, with players criticizing cluttered menus and poor navigation
  • Post-launch reception dips slightly: 74% positive since release compared to the 77% lifetime score

Who is it for?

Fans of deep, cerebral strategy games who can tolerate rough edges will find Mandate Order compelling. Those allergic to janky performance or messy UIs should look elsewhere.

Is Mandate Order worth it in 2026?

Yes for the right audience, despite some caveats: 77% of 692 Steam reviews are positive (player score 71/100). Most-praised strength: Strategy depth shines. Current price: 19,50€.

Verdict

A promising strategy sim marred by technical instability. Its strengths in gameplay and audio suggest strong potential, but performance and UI issues keep it from greatness. Early adopters are getting in at a discount, though stability patches may be essential.
